Stimmung de Karlheinz Stockhausen

Les Métaboles (6 singers)
Léo Warynski, musical direction
SWR EXPERIMENTALSTUDIO Freiburg, electronic device

Inspired by Indian music and Buddhist philosophy, this creation for voice and electronics is emblematic of the hippie era. Composed in 1968, it is an invocation of various deities in 51 erotic phases and poems, an invitation to immerse yourself in the sounds and senses of India.
At the premiere (December 9, 1968, Paris), the concert was presented as a hippie campfire, with the singers seated on the ground, in a circle, and in the lotus position. They went so far as to wear bandanas to better identify with Indian culture. A work and an approach which is akin to a spiritual ritual, which overflows with a benevolent and positive energy and which evokes the dream of a better world.

Grand opening concert

The 38th edition of Musica opens with one large concert in the monumental setting of the Rhine Hall of the Palais de la Musique et des Congrès - a 3,000 m2 space to make distancing and reinstate the necessary sharing of listening. Come with friends or family, understand the ritual of the concert in different ways (sitting, standing, lying down) and live a unique experience of musical immersion. For this first big concert of the weekend, Musica takes you to the borders of sound galaxies by Ryoji Ikeda, Ashley Fure, Simon Steen-Andersen and Karlheinz Stockhausen. One watchword: deconstruct the ritual of the concert to nurture new listening experiences.
