Cité de la Voix - National Vocal Arts Center

La Cité de la Voix, a national vocal arts center located in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, has been offering professionalization initiatives for young singers and choir directors for several years. its fourth edition, in June 2025, will be led by Léo Warynski and Simon Carrington.

• collective practice in class each week accompanied by guest musicians and/or singers from the Ensemble Métaboles training
• open to teachers, in order to find the self-confidence to implement their artistic desires and share effective tools of transmission,
• tutoring, for tailor-made support in the autonomy of teachers.

The Christmas concert with La Cité de la Voix, this year at the Halle de Gray (Haute-Saône)

From Tallis to Filidei, from Mahler's Adagietto Symphony 5 (transcription by Gérard Pesson) to the impressive Concerto for choir by Schnttke, the ensemble conducted by Léo Warynski reveals the virtuosity, freshness and energy of four major works who rub shoulders, confront each other, inspire each other, all linked by the sublime utopia of a form of excess.

La Cité de la Voix, a national center for the vocal arts located in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, has been offering professional training programs for young singers and choir directors for several years. In 2023 and for the third edition, a choir conducting academy is offered in collaboration with the ensemble les Métaboles. The academy will be led by Léo Warynski and Daniel Reuss.

A restitution concert will take place on July 7 at 8:30 p.m. in the Basilica of Vézelay

32 singers conducted by Léo Warynski with a program that will bring together many composers: Veljo Tormis, Franz Schubert, Camille Saint-Saëns, Maurice Ravel, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Eric Whitacre and Jacques Offenbach...

The Canadian composer Raymond Murray Schafer has developed in his music a most singular philosophical approach, his vocal works seeking to establish a spiritual link with Nature, by creating real soundscapes, drawing inspiration for this from Native American culture. The vocal ensemble Les Métaboles excels in the interpretation of this metaphysical repertoire. Completed by a piece by Estonian composer Veljo Tormis, this concert is set in motion by choreographer Éric Oberdorff, assuring the public of an extraordinary mystical experience.

Les Métaboles and the cellist Marc Coppey, offer a program under the sign of metamorphosis. Some works are transformed, such as a Chaconne by Bach and Agnus Dei by Barber, transcribed for cello and choir. Others translate the metamorphosis musically, such as the eponymous work by Philippe Hersant inspired by the four seasons or the creation of the Japanese composer Noriko Baba. The ultimate change of state, that of passing from life to death, is explored in John Tavener's Svyati.

It is by playing on a double reference – a cappella, without instrumental accompaniment and the star Capella, the brightest star in the constellation of the Coachman – that the Métaboles illuminate this end of the year with carols from Europe, South America, the Caribbean or Africa
