This program revolves around the universal theme of compassion. By turns meditative, passionate, or heartbreaking, the music will transcend time to offer a source of comfort.
Arvo Pärt's Da Pacem is a meditation for four a cappella voices that pays tribute to the victims of the 2004 Madrid attacks. Alessandro Scarlatti's fervent Salve Regina evokes resilience in the face of tragedy, particularly the devastating 1702 Naples earthquake. Domenico Scarlatti's Stabat Mater, a true monument of Italian polyphony, intensely depicts Mary's suffering at the foot of the cross, in a poignant expression of pain and devotion. Echoing Arvo Pärt, Philippe Hersant's piece rises up like a cry of hope and comfort, dedicated this time to the victims of the conflict in Ukraine, linking past and present through a shared aspiration for peace. Finally, Alessandro Scarlatti's Magnificat, luminous and triumphant, accompanies this musical journey on a note of brilliance and gratitude.
